Recently the article of Herwin Roerdink on the proposal of the e-Privacy Regulation has been published in the Dutch Internet Law Review. In the wake of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) the European Commission published its proposal with regard to electronic communications. These rules will impact all organizations that use electronic communications, (online) marketing and cookes. In addition to the GDPR, the e-Privacy Regulation introduces the same high fines.
The proposal of the e-Privacy Regulation will be discussed by the European Commission, Council and Parliament and it is likely that a one year transition period will be observed.
